Fayetteville Resident Denise Garner Announces Bid for AR House District

Wanting to Bring Experience in Nonprofit and Health Career to State Legislature to Improve Lives of Working Families

(Fayetteville, Ark.) – Fayetteville resident and nonprofit founder Denise Garner officially launched her campaign for the Arkansas House of Representatives – District 84 yesterday, Wednesday, December 13th.

Denise held a kickoff campaign event at the Sunrise Stage in Fayetteville with over two hundred people from throughout the community who came out to show their support for Denise’s campaign.

“I decided to pull the trigger and enter this race because I am tired of seeing politics in spiral out of control with little to no understanding coming from either side of the aisle,” said Garner. “I cannot sit on the sidelines as our state legislature attacks the very institutions and ideas that I have championed for my entire life. We deserve better from our elected officials and need to hold our politicians accountable. I will always put Arkansas first!”

Arkansas House District 84 covers most of east Fayetteville and all of Greenland but also covers portions of Springdale, Elkins, West Fork and Prairie Grove. Rep. Charlie Collins is the incumbent and has represented the district for the last eight years and is currently seeking his fifth term.

“For nearly forty years, I’ve been deeply involved in our communities here in Washington County and all across Arkansas through various nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and my personal commitment to making our state a better place to live for all families,” said Garner. “I believe the 2017 legislative session has shown we must vote out politicians whose policies have gone too far and embarrass our state by putting public safety at risk. From talking with voters throughout District 84, it is apparent Rep. Charlie Collins has gone too far with his controversial guns-on-campus legislation and must be held accountable next November.”

Denise is committed to campaigning across House District 84 registering new voters, listening to constituents, and explaining her plan for how to fix several problems our state faces in healthcare, public education, and infrastructure.
